I'm Finally Starting to Feel Better!

The (Cyber) Bag of Weasels

bread and puppet

"About as much fun as a bag of weasels"...when I first saw this Irish adage, it made me think of the life of a writer: sometimes perilous, sometimes painful, certainly interesting. My paper journal has always been called "The Bag of Weasels." This is the Bag of Weasels' online home.

I'm Finally Starting to Feel Better!

Well, I think I'm finally out of the woods with regard to my illness/injury. *touch wood* I'm finally getting my energy back. Although I still tire really easily, I've been getting things done again. And the leg is slowly healing. Sunday was the worst; there were few ways that I could move that did hurt excruciatingly. Now, it has subsided to a dull ache when I walk or move it in certain ways.

Needless to say, I missed skating again on Sunday. Hopefully, I'll be able to go tomorrow, if only to have a light practice. I also finally managed to get back into candy-making; on Sunday, I started chopping my colored confectionary coating and putting it in my mold painters, and after a half-hour of that, I got so tired that I had to sit down. Last night, Bobby helped me finish filling the mold painters and then I finally got to try them out, making some milk chocolate hearts for my coworker's wife. I also made a batch of caramels and some creme center base. After two-and-a-half hours on my feet in the hot kitchen, hunching over candy molds, I was exhausted, but it felt good to manage something productive again.

Oh, and the hearts turned out beautifully! Expect pictures. ;)

Also, I got tagged for a meme! sinneahtes tagged me to tell of five ways that I might be bribed. Now I like to think myself above bribes. But if you wanted to bribe me, you might start here.

  1. A storefront in historic Ellicott City suitable for an ice cream restaurant, preferrably with an apartment over top where Bobby and I can live. Oh, and about five 15-quart ice cream makers. They're $15K a piece, so don't start shopping quite yet!

  2. An Elf. Yes, a real Elf. Don't tell me that they don't exist; we're talking about ways to bribe me here. As far as Tolkien Elves go, Finwians always work, but I also like Ecthelion, Glorfindel, Elladan, and Elrohir. Okay, the last two are half-Elves, but whatever. Also, one of my original Midhavens Elves/half-Elves would be nice.

  3. You could always offer to create the SWG archive for me. Not the site but the archive. I like creating webpages and am comfortable in XHTML and CSS but PHP scares the daylights out of me.

  4. Ensure that my sister's application to move to England to marry her girlfriend will be approved.

  5. A condo in Ocean City. Preferrably in The Pyramid just because The Pyramid has like the coolest design of any of the big hotels/condos in Ocean City. Oceanfront would be nice, if I'm being bribed. I will need a place to live once I start Nelyo's Ocean City store. Which brings me to part two of this particular bribe request: a Boardwalk storefront suitable for an ice cream restaurant and five 15-quart ice cream makers....

Now a meme ain't a meme without tagging, so who do I think I might want to bribe? Hmmm....

greenknight33, digdigil, ann_arien, ssotknapsack, and linwe_ancalime, because I want to know how to get in good with the inlaws and you haven't updated in a while. ;)

Per usual, any of you who want to yoink this meme and tell me five ways that I can bribe you, consider yourself tagged.

On a completely unrelated note, Bobby surprised me with a gift yesterday. (No, he was not trying to bribe me.) He managed to find online a bumpersticker that says, "I Brake for Elves." And it has little Elfy guys on it *squees and jumps around* Granted, I object to their curly shoes, but they do have cute ears.

Actually, thinking about it, perhaps he bought this for me to bribe me to wash my car. I've never washed my car in the two years I've had it, but it's silver, so the dirt doesn't show up too badly. Still, I will have to wash it before affixing my "I Brake for Elves" bumpersticker. Conspiracy theory, anyone?
  • Now if I wanted to conspire to get you to clean something babe, it wouldn't be your car...it would be more like the desk or the bedroom floor, just kidding! You know, when I bought that bumpersticker, the picture on the website had no indication that there were pictures of elves on it. So to that I say, Oh yeah, elves are cool! (Little flags and such). Hehehehehe (Nelyo voice)
    • Ouch.... *winces* :^P

That there are pictures of Elves on it--even in curly shoes--just makes it that much better. To be fair, the Elves do tend to blend in with the background.
  • I've never washed my car in the two years I've had it, but it's silver, so the dirt doesn't show up too badly.

Wow. That's impressive! Even I wash my car more than that!! Of course, the colorguard has a carwash every summer, and so I get a cheap carwash and do my part to help teh band.

My only bumper sticker says "Life's too short to hunt with an ugly dog." :P
    • Mwhahahahahahaha! Cool&funny bumper sticker!
    • Lol! I would like to get my stoopid next-door neighbors and their damned yappy dog a bumpersticker that says, "Life is too short to live with a pointless, annoying dog." Maybe they'd get the hint. Probably not.
      • LOL!! You mean life is too long to have a pointless, yappy dog!! :P

And I meant to say in my last comment "I'm glad you're feeling better!", but i are stoopid and forgot by the time I finished reading how to bribe you!
        • You mean life is too long to have a pointless, yappy dog!! :P

*sperfle* Yes, I like that one better! :^D

And I meant to say in my last comment "I'm glad you're feeling better!", but i are stoopid and forgot by the time I finished reading how to bribe you!

Thank you. :) It's okay; I didn't figure that you read, "I'm feeling better" and immediately thought, "DAMN IT!!!" :^D

Besides, once I'm better, I can send the Elves back. After thorough cleaning and sanitation, of course. ;)
          • Besides, once I'm better, I can send the Elves back. After thorough cleaning and sanitation, of course. ;)

And we likes Elves, yessss, even if they are shamelessss virus carriers. :)
  • I'm very glad to hear that you are finally doing better and I'll keep my fingers crossed that you will continue to improve, and fast. Take care, if you go skating tomorrow and watch out for that sore muscle. :)

Those goodies... *drools* And you say that there will be pictures?... Oh, the agony! *melodramatic sigh* ;p

    And I am impressed by the ways you could be bribed. I mean, except for wanting an Elf hottie, all the other options were part selfless (or 100% selfless, as far as #4 is concerned). {{huggles Dawn for non-selfish bribes}}

And the Elves bumper sticker is just priceless. He, he... they have cute ears... and somebody I know has a thing for beautifully shaped, delicate, pointed and sensitive ears... /ramble

I betcha you would break if a tall, dark/red-haired and handsome Noldo fell out of the sky and in front of your car. (beware though, some of these pesky Noldor will want to take the car apart and learn how it works!)
    • Take care, if you go skating tomorrow and watch out for that sore muscle. :)

I will, thank you. :) I am just going to have a light practice, to see what I'm capable of.

I hope you're feeling better too and that Fingon...erm...helped. >:^)

*hides from Jenni, who will probably come along and scream, "Fin is MINE!!!"*

Those goodies... *drools* And you say that there will be pictures?... Oh, the agony! *melodramatic sigh* ;p

Oh, yes. There will be pictures. ;) I have to take pictures of everything I make for the website anyway, so why not post the pretties here in the meantime?

He, he... they have cute ears... and somebody I know has a thing for beautifully shaped, delicate, pointed and sensitive ears...

Who would that be? 8^) <--my best innocent smile

(Btw, Feany in your icon has a precious ear too. Ahem.)
      • *hides from Jenni, who will probably come along and scream, "Fin is MINE!!!"*

        He, he, he...

I have to take pictures of everything I make for the website anyway, so why not post the pretties here in the meantime?

Yea, sure, why not torture the innocent souls on your f-list, eh? ;p

(Btw, Feany in your icon has a precious ear too. Ahem.)

Everything about that cuttie is precious. BTW, methinks I've developed a little ear-thing too. ;) stroking the beautiful, pointed ears, that is.
        • You will notice that Nelyo in your icon has a very nice ear poking out of all that red hair.... >:^]]

Elves' ears rule. (Hey, I didn't list it as an interest on my userinfo for nothing! :^D)
          • You will notice that Nelyo in your icon has a very nice ear poking out of all that red hair....

Awwww! That is just the cutest thing ever! And they are so pretty I want to huggle them real tight and make them squeal.
  • I'd love a bumpersticker like that, LOL
  • LOL! When I first saw this I thought "Hey! She didn't tag me!" and then I saw my name later when I came back here. Phhhffft! I must be really, really tired. Well yes, I am really, really tired! You'll get my bribes tomorrow!

Okay, this is really, really good:

Actually, thinking about it, perhaps he bought this for me to bribe me to wash my car. I've never washed my car in the two years I've had it, but it's silver, so the dirt doesn't show up too badly. Still, I will have to wash it before affixing my "I Brake for Elves" bumpersticker. Conspiracy theory, anyone?

Priceless! I cannot believe that you have never washed your car!! And you don't clean the computer desk or the bedroom floor, either? For shame!
    • Nope. I don't wash my car. The car I had before this one--an Escort wagon named Louis (also silver)--I had for five years and washed him once.

And I do pick up the bedroom floor about once a week. I usually take the clothes on the floor and either put them in the laundry or pile them in my closet. There are certain chores that I simply despise doing, and hanging up clothes is top of the list. (If I know I'm going out later in the evening, I won't even hang up my coat.)

And Bobby has a lot of nerve. The desk is a mess 'cause I'm working on D&D stuff for his characters. (Well, Meryth too, but mostly his characters. :^P)
      • Again, we have lots in common. I never used to wash my car either. Primarily because drive-through car washes are so expensive, and secondarily because there is no way in Mandos I am going to get into one of those car-wash bays and get yucky stuff on me. But now that they have those "points" cards, I just get a wash whenever I have enough points.

I used to be good at doing housework when I still worked full-time, but now that I've been at home and writing, it's lucky to get done once a week. And it's a rush job at that.

LOL! Well, my desk is a mess, too. And it's a brand-new desk that we just got last weekend. Already it's covered in papers, books, pens, etc.
  • Getting better is good! *sends a Feanorian nursing party round just to make sure she doesn't overdo it*
    • Hehe, I'm feeling better already. *will try not to overdo it with Feanorian nursing party* >:^))
  • Oh yay, elves are cool. That bumper sticker is perfect for you.

    4. Ensure that my sister's application to move to England to marry her girlfriend will be approved.

Awww, thanks. That warmed my heartstrings :-B ('tis supposed to be funny, that). Please keep your fingers crossed for us. :-)
