Well Well Well (The Hope Saga Continues!)

The (Cyber) Bag of Weasels

bread and puppet

"About as much fun as a bag of weasels"...when I first saw this Irish adage, it made me think of the life of a writer: sometimes perilous, sometimes painful, certainly interesting. My paper journal has always been called "The Bag of Weasels." This is the Bag of Weasels' online home.

Well Well Well (The Hope Saga Continues!)

As though we actually needed proof that the attention-whoring, compulsive-lying Hope McC is still watching what we're up to, I just got this in my email, about a half-hour ago:

It has come to our attention that in your entry located at http://dawn-felagund.livejournal.com/265934.html you have posted material which is invasive to the privacy of another. This is a violation of LiveJournal's Terms of Service, and as such we have suspended this entry.

If you wish for the entry to be unsuspended, we must require that you edit the entry to remove the full name "Hope REMOVED" from the entry, any screenshots which contain that name, and delete all of the comments on that entry which contain that full name.

Once you have done so, a request will automatically be submitted to us which will allow us to review the changes and unsuspend the entry if all necessary information has been removed.

I've edited my Facebook screencap and REMOVED her last name in the post. What's left to do is to go through the (almost 300! *whimper*) comments and remove those and repost with edits. So the post will remain offline until then, but I will have it back up as soon as I can.

This is a first for me, having an LJ entry suspended! :D
  • I noticed that entry was gone. I wondered what had happened.

    Low blow.
    • Eh. If it makes her feel she's achieved some sort of victory to have her last name removed from the post (although I'm sure her email to LJ was more along the lines of "omg there out to get me its so unfiar nad you should mkae that evil Dwan dlelte that hole entrie!!"), I'll give it to her. The post has been up long enough that her name is emblazoned in the memories of many of us, and we'll get the word out, if need be, using other venues. I hope to have the post back up soon, just as soon as I sift through all of those comments ... O.O

Why is it, even now, that this woman's main source of pain to me is that she acts as a leech on time I don't have?!?

  • Dawn! That is so awful.

I wish there was a way to address her causing so much pain and suffering. She really did alter the quality of a few of my friends' lives and interfere significantly with my productivity for a few months.
    • I'm kind of getting a kick out of being flagged for a ToS violation. :D

I wish there was a way to address her causing so much pain and suffering. She really did alter the quality of a few of my friends' lives and interfere significantly with my productivity for a few months.

The same thought occurred to me. I felt like writing back to LJ and asking, "Is there a way to ToS someone for being a pathologically lying, soul-sucking, heartless, drama-mongering leech?"

But seriously, we have the same rule on the SWG ToS (and MPTT, which is largely based on SWG's) about not revealing identifying information, so I do understand the reason for the ToS, as it is. And revealing someone's real name is normally not something that I would ever even consider doing. (Hence, I was careful with AM's, after Pandemonium pointed that out on R&T.) But as you say, this woman caused so much actual harm to people, it seemed necessary. I mean, she was threatening legal action against people at one point! That's well beyond your normal annoying fandom drama queen. She was worth the warning.
  • Well, it should be a simple search and replace feature, but it is a nice wake-up call that she is watching. Someone deserves coal in their holiday stocking.

The difference between stupidity and genius is that genius has its limits.

    • *sporfle!* True indeed! keiliss's comment below yours about horses and barns and doors comes to mind. ;)

I still can't believe that if one was going to orchestrate that elaborate of a deception as Hope did that one would ever dare to use one's real name.
  • Something about horses and stable doors comes to mind here :P I wasn't even involved in this, and I remember her real name is apparently Hope McC...

I guess she's missing the attention now the outrage is starting to die down.
  • A criminal usually comes back to the place of crime. That sort of thing. It's incurable.
    • One thing that seems glaringly true of Hope (aside from the fact that she is obviously severely mentally ill; enough so that the part of me that can remain oblivious to the harm she caused to me, people I care about, and others in this community that didn't deserve what they got from her does pity her and hopes this inspires her to get help) is that she loves attention. I've had no doubt that she's been watching that post like a hawk; probably signed up for another LJ by now so that she can track comments and everything. Like Kei said, now that the hype is dying down, she needs something to keep her busy! :)

  • Well, well... it sounds as if she does not like it when she is on the receiving end. Remove the real name, and see if that placates LJ, so that the post is reinstated. But I would not be surprised if she keeps ranting and kicking for a while, unfortunately. I wonder what she is planning to do next?

    • Yeah, I'd kind of like to have seen what she requested of LJ in the first place. I'm sure it wasn't a demure, "Please have them remove my real name." I'm sure she wanted everything scrapped. I have no problem with LJ's response, although, like I told Oshun, I wish there could be an exception for soul-sucking leeches who like to hurt people! :)
  • LOL - I just noticed which user pic you chose for this posting. Perfect choice.

  • Heh. I was thinking when I first heard of the Lady Roisin drama, "Oh crap, she'd better hope a future employer doesn't google her name or something" (assuming that wasn't a fake identity or something).
    • Yeah, I have to admit that the thought crossed my mind. Especially if she ended up in another fandom or similar community, pulling similar crap, I wanted someone using Google-fu to be able to find my entry.

Now I'm wondering if LJ will allow meta tags ... >:^)
  • Oh wow, well I am glad to have balanced this stuff with something very positive and awesome (have you checked it, huh huh huh!) *nudge*nudge*
  • You know, Dawn, enough people did see the post that no one's going to forget it. If you have the original post on your hard-drive, hang on to it. And don't let her waste anymore of your time.

Why bother to "fix" the post? I am sure that many have screen caps of it and so forth, so the evidence has not gone away. She is a time-leech, and it's not right that you are still having to spend time over her.
    • *hugs* Thank you, Dreamflower. I agree with you. I decided not to edit the post last night because, dammit, I had about an hour to spend for myself and chose to spend it on doing website work for the groups and people who have a positive effect on my life. (Most of it was SCA-related; I still haven't touched my MPTT agenda. :^S)

I will fix the post, when I have time. I want it to be public record, and lots of links, I'm sure (based on the fact that about half of the commenters are not on my flist!), point to it. But I did take your advice to heart, as well as others hear talking about focusing on the positives, to do something good with my evening last night. (I also finished my last linguistics course, which was pretty darned cool! :)
  • Oh... because we all don't have anything better to do than threaten you or stalk you or say nasty things about you... Okay, so maybe not so much that last one, Hope, but you get the picture. Unlike you, sweetheart, we are grownups here. Get a life!

Anyway... that's what I'd just love to say to her face. That is... if she is really a she. And if she is really that worried about people knowing her full name, maybe it should be her clue to stop being such a stupid bint.
  • Oh fuck. I've heard about this kind of thing. I just think it's pathetic of LJ, because really, whose privacy is being invaded here, truly?

Though if you're getting a kick out of it... :"D
    • Yeah, I'm like the least badass person on LJ, and here I've had an entry suspended for ToS violation! The mind boggles! :D

I understand the spirit of the ToS rule, and in truth, revealing someone's real name without their consent is something I never would have done if I didn't think the danger this person proved warranted violating my own personal rules on the subject. I feel it was morally justified, in short. The ToS, unfortunately, just can't account for such gray areas.
  • This is a first for me, having an LJ entry suspended! :D
