Postcards from Ireland

The (Cyber) Bag of Weasels

bread and puppet

"About as much fun as a bag of weasels"...when I first saw this Irish adage, it made me think of the life of a writer: sometimes perilous, sometimes painful, certainly interesting. My paper journal has always been called "The Bag of Weasels." This is the Bag of Weasels' online home.

Postcards from Ireland

In exactly one month, Bobby and I will be getting ready to board a plane to Ireland. As always, I would like to send postcards to those of my online and off-line friends who would like one.

Now I can see some of you shifting from foot to foot because you want a postcard, but you're not sure if I'm talking to you or if I am talking to people who know me better or longer or leave more or longer comments on my occasional journal entries.

Stop worrying. If you want a postcard, please ask for one. This post isn't aimed at only "certain" people; if it was, then it would be filtered and locked so that only those "certain" people could view it. I like sending and receiving postcards is all. If we are acquainted online or off, or you are on my LJ flist, or on a friends' list on some other site (like Facebook), then this post is aimed at you! So, if you wish, ask away! :)

Comments to this post are screened, meaning that they cannot be viewed by anyone but me. I will not un-screen any comments that contain personal information. If you want a postcard, please leave the name and address you'd like it sent to in a comment, or email me at DawnFelagund@gmail.com. (The bit about the name is especially important. It is always a bit embarrassing to send mail to Legolas_Hawtie_69, so don't forget to tell me who I'm sending the card to!)

If I have sent mail to your current address before, then I have your address (my address list being one of the few things that I do keep up-to-date), and you can just leave me a comment saying that you'd like a postcard.
  • You know I want one! I'm so greedy! I want to know where you are going? Which parts of Ireland? You know Kenaz is there now, or just back, not sure which, I haven't been keeping up with my f-list as well as I should. (You get an icon my current favorite Northern Irishman--Colin Morgan--BBC's Merlin).

    • Oh, you're on my automatic-postcard list by now! ;) We'll be staying in Dublin and taking day trips also to Kilkenny and Cork, at least; Bobby is scheming some other excursions as well, but that's what we've settled on so far.
  • *waves*

    I'd like one :)
  • Howdy! Can we please have an Irish postcard if we promise an Austrian one in return? :o)
  • We're not going on holiday, but come to think of it, would you like some in return? :c)
  • *waves from Friends-of-friends*

I don't want a postcard, but I did want to tell you about my favorite place in Dublin, the Chester Beatty Library. More of a small museum than a library, lovely gift shop, excellent snack shop, peaceful and pretty garden, and best of all, free!
    • Sorry for the dreadfully late reply--I wanted to thank you for this tip! We've since added it to our itinerary. :)
  • In about a month, i'm off to the West Coast! XD Shall we trade?

  • (no subject) -
    • We won't be making it to Galway this time, sadly ... but if we make it over there before you and Eli do, I promise you lots of pictures! :)

You'll get lots of pictures this time of our time on the mid-eastern part of the country. I'll keep a lookout for fairy holes too!
  • In exactly one month, we leave for England; if you are flying out of Logan, we might be on the same flight! >:)
    • Wow, wouldn't it be awesome to be on the same flight? :D But we're flying Philly to Newark to Dublin ... so we'll have to hope for next time, or meet up in a more conventional way when you visit your family in Montgomery County and then come to Bright Hills for an illumination class with Master Tristan ...

      *hides* ;)
      • Why are you hiding? That sounds GREAT! :)
        • Oh, because I always torment you about it despite that you've told me you won't be back in the area for a while. Some day, right? ;)
  • I love snail mail,so please could a have a card please?I think you have my snail mail.
  • Oooh, pick me!!! (Hi, I am alive.) Better yet, TAKE ME WITH YOU!

The TX address. If you need it, let me know. :)
    • Will you fit in a hiking backpack? If so, be at the Philly airport on 25 June in time for a 1:30 PM flight. ;)

And I do have the TX address!
