Yes, I'm Alive!

The (Cyber) Bag of Weasels

bread and puppet

"About as much fun as a bag of weasels"...when I first saw this Irish adage, it made me think of the life of a writer: sometimes perilous, sometimes painful, certainly interesting. My paper journal has always been called "The Bag of Weasels." This is the Bag of Weasels' online home.

Yes, I'm Alive!

But since I posted AMC, you probably knew that....

I've had so much about which I've wanted to write. I had an awesome holiday weekend and a crappy beginning of the week at work--but no time to write in my LJ.

I spent most of the weekend in a mildly hypomanic state. There was some minor wall-bouncing and very little sleep and a bit of relentless laughter to make things interesting. Normally, I require eight to nine hours of sleep per night to function, but this weekend, I could not sleep. Even when I felt tired...nothing. I was wired.

Which set me up to crash this week.

Problem: It's been a very busy week. At home, in my social circles, and--most annoyingly--at work. So while dragging myself around in a sleep-deprived funk, people actually seem to be expecting things of me. Like that warrants be run and pasta be eaten with my family and that I attempt to do an axel at skating practice. What I'd love to do is go home, package up my candy to ship out this weekend, take a three-hour nap, and waste the evening writing holiday gift stories.

Today's the first day with nothing crazy on the schedule for the evening, so hopefully, I can squeeze all that in. Well, maybe not a three-hour nap, but an hour might be nice!

I went to the Cake Cottage last night to pick up the last of my candy packaging supplies and allowed myself to walk down the aisle with the molds, which I usually avoid because then I want to buy everything. Like a mold for a 3D chocolate sleigh or a complete chocolate nativity scene. (And I'm not even a Christian!) But since the candy is mostly finished, I indulged myself and I found....

*drumroll*

A. Star. Of. Feanor. Candy. Mold.

Well, really, it's supposed to be the Christmas star, but I know damn right well that they jacked the idea from the Feanster himself. So, of course, I had to buy one. So those of you who ordered holiday candy from me will get a bonus milk chocolate Star of Feanor. (Incidentally, the mold also contains a Star of the Pentalliance, which is the star from Felak's original RPG/writing world. That was exciting too, but not as exciting as the Star of Feanor.)

Today, Bobby's home sick, which means that he will come and have lunch with me. So now I'm debating: Should I eat a small cup of Lucky Charms for breakfast? Or just wait for lunch?

(At least) eleven more warrants are coming today, so I should enjoy the peace while it lasts....
  • Alright, I'll post this again, now I have my meagre brain cells in the proper order.

Um, *looks slightly sheepish* Did I order any candy? Or did I decide the UK was too far? Only *sniffs* it's cold and wet here and my muses are all busy and, and...*looks mournful wants a star of Fëanor*

Oh and thank you SO much for the SilWritersGuild update. My muses have now all stopped what they were doing and are looking at me expectantly. Gah. I am in so much trouble.

Oh and may I ask a question of a fairly random nature? What's your favourite white stone that isn't a diamond? Moonstone? Quartz? Something else?
    • Alright, I'll post this again, now I have my meagre brain cells in the proper order.

Since you seem to have gotten them in order, can you help me with mine? :^( <--that's my pleading look

Um, *looks slightly sheepish* Did I order any candy?

No! But I have plenty, and so if you want some, send me your address. (My email is DawnFelagund@comcast.net.) And the UK is not too far; I have some going there and to Germany too. :)

My muses have now all stopped what they were doing and are looking at me expectantly. Gah. I am in so much trouble.

      *snicker snicker*

I'd like to feel sympathy, but since I'm in the same boat with at least 5 million ideas floating in my head and all of my Elves constantly poking me in the shoulder, then I'll suffice to say that misery loves company! :^P

What's your favourite white stone that isn't a diamond? Moonstone? Quartz? Something else?

Hmmm. Do white opals count? Moonstone, though, is nice too. (Incidentally, I like both better than diamond anyway!)
      • WOOT STAR OF FEANOR CANDY MOLD!

Now I REALLY can't wait for my candy!!!!

Post a picture of the mold! Please please please please!
        • I shipped on Saturday, so you'll be getting the real deal soon enough!

However, it seems that I am overdue for an odd picture-post, so maybe tonight I'll take pictures of all the odd stuff people have requested to see over the last few months.

-Me in my (faux) fur-lined, floor-length wizard/pimp coat
-Bobby in my (faux) fur-lined, floor-length wizard/pimp coat if I can get him drunk enough or bribe him with...erm...favors
-My three unicorns Nelyo, Macalaure (a.k.a. Hape), and Findekano
          *and*
-My Star of Feanor candy mold

As though y'all don't think me weird enough already!

(PS- Hope the move went well and you're doing well too! *hugs*)
  • A. Star. Of. Feanor. Candy. Mold.

Excellent! I made a Star of Feanor embroidery pattern a while back, and your post has just given me the idea of using it to decorate a cake!

    • The good thing is that I think the star is big enough to use for solid *or* filled chocolate. One day, I'm going to paint a bunch of pretty Stars of Feanor chocolates...what would look really cool is a cake decorated with the SoF and chocolate SoFs at intervals along the border!
    • your post has just given me the idea of using it to decorate a cake!

What a great idea! *running out to buy a Star of Feanor mold* My daughter wanted an 'elvish cake' for her b-day next week, and I was not having much luck practicing my Tengwar writing skills in icing.

In fact, my icing Tengwar is so sloppy I was just going to stick a plastic Legolas in the center of the cake and call it a day. I know, tacky.

hmmm, a Feanor star, blue waves around the sides of the cake, dribble a little red icing over the whole thing..... *drum roll* a one-of-a-kind kin-slaying cake. She's a teenager, she would probably find it amusing. :0
      • ROFL! Once Nelyo's-the-shop opens, I'd hoped to sell ice cream cakes with an option of having them written in Tengwar. I figure it's a sure-thing with the nerd-crowd. I don't know how well a kinslaying cake would go over, though.... ;^P

I'm excited too because I can do chocolate gift tags in the Tengwar. I think that makes me officially an uber-geek! :^B

My daughter thinks your cakes might be better than the one I'm planning. Faithless child!

.......let me know when you're open so I can put in an order.
          • My daughter thinks your cakes might be better than the one I'm planning. Faithless child!

Lol! Well, if it's any consolation, I think that your idea is much more creative!

.......let me know when you're open so I can put in an order.

Hubby and I will actually (hopefully!) be opening our online candy store sometime in the New Year. Don't worry, when it happens, it will be the SQUEE heard around my f-list! :^D
  • A. Star. Of. Feanor. Candy. Mold.

BOO-yeah. Nelyo's is SO in business now.

And it's funny that you posted today in sort of a vaguely grouchy sort of way, because I just happen to have something that might cheer you up. Remember when I said I'd let you know when my next Sil story went up?

Voila! Behold The Nan Elmoth Apprentice!
    • Yay! Thank you! That will either get me through the last fifty minutes of my day or get me through tomorrow, depending on how the muses feel about the story on which I am currently working.
  • A Star of Feanor candy mold! Wow!

Too bad you'll only be able to make 3 candies with it. ;-)
    • Lol! How true!

Actually, it's not far from the truth, as it is only one shape in a Christmas mold, so it takes about 15 minutes to make one candy. And they keep insisting on cracking when I take them out....

      Damn Feanorians.
    • Too bad you'll only be able to make 3 candies with it. ;-)

Just remember to give the S.o.F. candies freely, and do not hoard them, and all will be well.

      • Lol! No fears there! I am a lucky confectioner in that I rarely hoard my own treats. Living in an apartment that constantly smells of chocolate does that to ya. I have just shipped out eight boxes of candy containing Stars of Feanor and also gave two to Hubby. Those were broken, though. Poor man never gets to eat candy that isn't broken or leaking....

Wow. That sounds gross. I mean leaking filling that is *supposed* to be in there.

Going to shut up now before I put myself out of business before I even begin! :^P
  • OMG!!!! LOL!!!

Well there goes my idea to get you a Star of Feanor mold as a Nelyo's Grand Opening (or some other excuse) present...
    • Well, if it's any consolation, the mold has about nine shapes on it and only one is a Star of Feanor. Which means that it takes about an hour to make four stars of Feanor. :^/

I would like to eventually find a mold with *nothing but* Stars of Feanor, but I don't know if this is beyond my hopes or not.

And one can never have too many Stars of Feanor.... ;^)
