Love to My Flist for the Holidays!

The (Cyber) Bag of Weasels

bread and puppet

"About as much fun as a bag of weasels"...when I first saw this Irish adage, it made me think of the life of a writer: sometimes perilous, sometimes painful, certainly interesting. My paper journal has always been called "The Bag of Weasels." This is the Bag of Weasels' online home.

Love to My Flist for the Holidays!

I know in this last year, I wasn't exactly a barrel of laughs. Between my depressing work stories, losing Alex, and the Constant Angst over My MA ProgramTM--combined with a dearth of posts on things people actually like, like picspams of my dogs and fannish things--I would blame no one for just scrolling on past when I rarely appear on their friends page.

But the thing is, many of you don't.

I cannot say how much I appreciate the love and support I continue to receive, even when I have not been able to reciprocate for far too long, or even reply to comments. I have a list of stories to read as long as my arm. I haven't even replied to all of the wonderful gifts that were made for me as part of Felak's Treasures some years ago.

I just handed in the final assignment for this final class (I hope!) before starting my thesis. There is light at the end of the tunnel! I hope to be a more interesting, less depressing person and, most importantly, a better friend again soon.

Friends, thank you for sticking by me through that long tunnel, even when I haven't upheld my end of the bargain. You make me laugh, commiserate with me when I need it the most, and make me feel less alone in the world.

My very best wishes to all of you for a happy holiday season. *hugs*

  • *hugs back* I hope your holidays are wonderful!
    • Same to you! :) It was a good day here. Santa brought me Silmarillion artwork and a dance sword, and Gwen was poorly behaved at home and perfect over my parents' house. :D
  • Ah, the sweet relief associated with turning in a last assignment (I hope!). It's like finally washing the gritty, insulating dough off your hands after putting the baking sheets in the oven and looking forward to eating warm cookies (I think, at least!). :D

I always look forward to reading a new post from you, however frequently they come. :)

Hope you have a lovely holiday!

I don't know if this is funny to anyone else, but I accidentally almost left you a comment that simply said "Malnutrition/hypoalbuminemia" thanks to an LJ login and a copy/paste error. Guess my clipboard needs a holiday, too!
    • That is a lot of what it is like! :D Or like hiking/cycling up a very long hill when you see the crest at the top and know you might just make it without dying! :D

I would have found it funny! I've definitely had a few copy-paste near misses myself ...

YES! That's certainly a milestone to celebrate. And hey, I understand how difficult grad work can be, especially writing a thesis. I'm certain I've shared this with you before, but will repeat it anyway. It's funny 'cos it's true. :^)

Likewise, best wishes to you, the Green Knight, the pooches, and the fam (hope Amiah especially has a happy Christmas)!
    • It is so true! I always reread it and laugh and then want to cry a little ...

I totally do the "read another book!" form of procrastination.

We all had a great day; I hope you and yours did too! :) Amiah was treated very well by Santa Claus. She had her tonsils out last week, and today was also one of the first days she could eat real food again, and I think she totally enjoyed rejoining the world of normal eating by eating mostly junk! :D
  • Happy Holidays, Dawn!
Hope this "final" clears your last hurdle before the thesis can begin!
I am always happy to read your posts (well, "happy" is not necessarily the emotion when the news is sad or frustrating or infuriating ...).
    • I hope you are having a great holiday season too! *hugs* Life is good here. I am enjoying the little break from the frustrating and infuriating at work. ;)
  • I always read, but keep my mouth shut, because I rarely have anything of value to say. You give me a lot to think about. And sometimes I really want to punch your coworkers, but um...

I hope your holiday is amazing! You deserve it.
  • Congrats on the final assignment! Now, one more hurdle, the thesis, eh? You'll get there. And don't worry about not having time for fannish things. Everyone understands and you're around about as much -- even with your devilish schedule -- as most of my f-list. Hang in there! May 2016 be a wonderful year! Cheers!
    • Yes! ONE MORE HURDLE. Four months. And I'm done! :D

It's not even that I'm not around much but that I feel like most people follow me for Tolkien stuff and all I write lately are depressing school stories!

Best wishes to you too for a great 2016. *hugs*
